DM-Link Wired Provisioning Tool

Get your Digital Matter devices online faster and fix connection issues in minutes. DM-Link is the official wired provisioning and debugging tool for Digital Matter hardware—perfect for bench setup, bulk rollouts, and deep-dive troubleshooting.

Why you’ll love it

  • Zero-guesswork onboarding. Manually set APN, bands, and other network parameters when a SIM or network needs special settings. Ideal for LTE-M and NB-IoT where SMS-based setup isn’t available until the device is already online.
  • LoRaWAN® made simple. Configure region and JoinEUI before deployment, and update device parameters, firmware, and Almanac data where supported.
  • Serious diagnostics. Pull detailed debug logs over the cable and save them as CSV to speed up root-cause analysis.
  • Power features for pros. Update modem network profiles (for NB-IoT DNS support) and send AT commands directly to the modem from the tool.

What you can do with DM-Link

  • Program firmware (the tool ships with bundled FW for each device) and apply admin parameters in one pass. Note: bundled FW may not be the latest.
  • Configure parameters (APN, bands, network settings and more) prior to field deployment. Devices show “Synced” once parameters match your profile.
  • Read and save device logs for offline analysis when cloud debug logs aren’t available.
  • Update modem profiles to add DNS support on certain NB-IoT networks and check modem health during debugging.
  • Open an AT command console with a hotkey (Ctrl + Alt + M) for advanced modem control and file transfer.

What’s in the box

  • DM-Link universal programming cable & adapter
USB on the PC side, spring-loaded 9-pin JTAG pogo connector for the device side (three long alignment pins + six contact pins).

Important: Use the new universal DM-Link moving forward. Do not use the older ULINK2 on newer-generation devices—the higher voltage can damage hardware.

Compatibility (highlights)

Works with a wide range of Digital Matter devices, including Bolt/Bolt2, Dart2/Dart3 (all variants), Eagle, Falcon, Hawk Pro/Lite, G120, G150, G62, G70, Oyster2, Oyster3 (Cellular & LoRaWAN), Remora2, Remora3-4G, Yabby3, Yabby Edge (Cellular/LoRaWAN), Manta GPS/Fusion (LTE-M/NB-IoT), Barra GPS/Edge, Barra Core, and more.
For certain older LoRaWAN variants (e.g., G62 LoRaWAN), a specific LoRaWAN cable is required. For the full, always-up-to-date list, check the official compatibility table.

System requirements

  • Windows® 7 or later (Windows-only; no Mac or Linux version).
  • Provisioning app download is available via your Digital Matter Device Manager/OEM Server account.

How it works (quick start)

  1. Install & open the DM-Link provisioning app on a Windows PC.
  2. Connect the cable to the device’s J2 debug port (look under the serial sticker on some models). Align the three long pins with the through-holes and the six short pins with the gold pads.
  3. Tick the actions you want (e.g., Program Firmware, Set Parameters, Set Modem Profiles), then power the device and hold the cable in place until the screen flashes and the app confirms success.
  4. Power-cycle the device after you’re done.

FAQs

Can I use this on Mac or Linux?
No. The tool supports Windows 7 and newer only.

Do I still need DM-Link if devices support AutoNet?
AutoNet usually gets devices online automatically, but DM-Link is essential when a SIM/APN isn’t recognized or special network settings are required. It also unlocks advanced debugging and modem configuration.

Will using the tool update firmware?
Yes—if Program Firmware is ticked, the tool will flash the bundled firmware first, then apply parameters. Be aware the bundled version may be older than the latest release.

Can I check modem health?
Yes. When Set Modem Profiles is enabled, the tool powers the modem and reports errors if it’s unresponsive—handy for spotting hardware faults.

Advanced: can I send AT commands?
Yes. Press Ctrl + Alt + M inside the app to open the modem console, then issue AT commands or transfer files.

Good to know

  • If the modem is busy with a firmware update, modem-profile updates won’t run. Leave the device powered for ~30 minutes to let the update finish, then try again.
  • After provisioning, disconnect everything and reboot the device to resume normal operation.
